Our club is run by 5 very experienced Black Belt instructors, each with many years of experience. Left to right – Lewis Alder 3rd Dan, Kiki Lagou 2nd Dan, Kevin Roberts 5th Dan, Michelle Roberts 4th Dan and Shaun Walsh 2nd Dan. Please read instructor profiles for more information.

We train in Shotokan Karate a very popular recognised style practised worldwide. Training is based at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, which is an excellent facility. Our club has been training at Hutton Moor weekly since it opened in 1987.

We currently have over eighty members of all ages ranging from white belts to black belts. There are 2 seperate sessions, 1st is for new students, this now includes any parents who wish to train with their child. The 2nd is for more established Junior and Adults students.

We have members training from all walks of life and all ages ranging from 7 years to 60s and you do not need to be especially fit in order to take up karate. However it will be invaluable in helping to develop and maintain good cardio-vascular fitness.

Regular Karate training helps to develop personal self defense skills, general awareness, co-ordination, along with increasing flexibility, confidence and balance. For the more mature student it can help with memory.

It is also a great way to meet people from around the local area. We arrange regular club nights out and all classes are taught in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere.
